The Dramatists Guild Foundation Gala is a dazzling evening of live performances honoring the legendary writers, industry leaders, and visionaries who have shaped American theater. This unforgettable night will feature Broadway’s brightest stars and some of today’s most celebrated writing talent. As DGF’s largest annual fundraiser, proceeds from ticket sales, the silent auction, and paddle raise directly support our vital grants and programs that uplift and empower theater writers across the country.
This year’s Gala will honor Chisa Hutchinson, Michael Korie, and Jolie Schaffzin.
As an applauded DGF Fellows alum, Chisa Hutchinson’s accomplishments reach far beyond the stage. In addition to playwrighting, she teaches Creative Writing at the University of Delaware, and founded the Signpost Fellowship, a six-month, paid opportunity for a young dramatist of color to shadow a professional playwright or screenwriter. Michael Korie is a Tony Award-nominated lyricist and librettist of Grey Gardens, War Paint, Far From Heaven, Happiness, and many more. His decade-long commitment to the DGF Fellows program, as both Musical Theater Chair and Mentor, has helped shape the careers and work of many Award-winning dramatists. Jolie Schaffzin has dedicated her career to fostering new writers, including as a DGF Advisory Board Member. In her newly appointed role as the Publisher of Playbill magazine, she is the first woman to hold the position in the publication’s 140-year history. Tony, Emmy and Writers Guild nominated writer, comedian and
New York Times best-selling author
Amber Ruffin (
Some Like It Hot, The Wiz) will return as host for her third year.
