Broadway Advocacy Coalition

Arts Programming:

THEATER OF CHANGE  - The Theater of Change (TOC) brings together theater artists, policy experts and students, and advocates who have first-hand experience with the systems we need to change to learn from each other and expand their capacity, community, and impact. This intensive workshop enables participants to blend the practices of artistry, law, policy, and advocacy led by people with direct experience to produce artistic projects with the potential to make tangible impact on the inequitable, unjust, and racist systems.

ARTIVISM FELLOWSHIP - The Artivism Fellowship is a 7 month incubation process that provides two participating artist-activists the tools and resources to blend artistry, law, policy, and community engagement to leverage their creative talents to drive meaningful systemic change. Throughout the program, fellows are partnered with an advocacy organization, where they gain valuable insights into the inner workings of the organization, ongoing campaigns, and actively contribute by creating a compelling piece of art that activates the advocacy organization's goals and policy aims.

IMPACT PROJECTS - BAC's signature Impact Projects bring together best-in-class artists, advocates and policy experts to combine their talents to channel stories for impact on specific policy issues ranging from education equity within New York City’s public schools to the inhumane treatment of incarcerated New Yorkers during the COVID pandemic. Each project combines a rigorous production process with strategic organizing to leverage the arts to catalyze systems change.

Community Building:

ARTS IN ACTION FESTIVAL - The annual Arts in Action Festival is the premier space for organizations and individuals working at the intersections of arts and advocacy to come together to showcase their work, explore opportunities for collaboration, celebrate the resilience of the justice-impacted community, and focus the city’s attention on the many ways that the “justice” system is failing to actually create justice for so many inhabitants of New York City.
